WHAT IS MULTIPLICATION?
What is it really?
Well, multiplication is:

REPEATED ADDITION
Multiplication is just repeated addition. If you know how to add, you will be able to multiply.Â
Ex: 5x3=5+5+5=15

GROUPS AND SETS
When we multiply, we are putting things into groups and sets. There are 3 groups of 5 apples. So there are 15 apples in all.

INVERSE OF DIVISION
Although multiplication is basically repeated addition, multiplication is also the opposite of division. This is because multiplication finds the product by using equal groups. Division is finding how many equal groups we can make out of a certain amount of items.
HOW TO MULTIPLY
There are several different ways to multiply. We are going to be learning a few of these methods. Click on the "Learn More" buttons under each description to learn more and how to use it.
